- Matt5mith05/07/24Great British pubs do still exist We've stopped off here a couple of times and are looking forward to doing so again next week when we revisit Woodhall. The first time we had food as a family. The food was very good, and the service was excellent. We didn't book, but they were very accommodating. The staff made a fuss of our young daughter and dog, and it wasn't forced. The second time we just popped in for drinks as a couple and the place was swamped. There was a real buzz which is refreshing these days. We managed to squeeze in at the bar and the landlord (I'm assuming) was very friendly and attentive, despite being incredibly busy. Qudos to whoever trains the staff here because everyone is on the same page, and the service is consistent. The beer is excellent too! Highly recommended.read moreread less
- T01/07/24A mirage! After travelling for a while, a welcome break. We stumbled (not literally!) across this pub as we were on our way home from Hull to Norfolk via the scenic route so decided to pop in just for a quick drink as it looks lovely from the exterior. The interior is just as welcoming! Old world charm, a really friendly welcome from the bar staff and the waft of the Sunday roast was rather enticing but as it was a nice day we sat outside, lovely little huts are provided for if the weather isn’t as pleasant and roses surround the area. Really a very pleasant place.read moreread less
- Nicola16/06/24We loved having lunch at this pub today. Staff were really friendly and welcoming, speedy service and the chips were PERFECT. Indoors it’s really traditional, lots of choice on the menu including sundaes ❤️ Busy and bustling but relaxed atmosphere. The outside space is lovely too, would like to try a booth outside one day.read moreread less
- cookiemonster4005/06/24Disappointed We visited for lunch whilst staying in Horncastle. Friendly and oldie worldly pub. Two of us ordered the Chicken Goujons. One had the Ham egg and Chips and the other Fish and chips. The fish and chips were enjoyed and also the ham egg and chips. The two of us that had the chicken goujons didn't enjoy their meal. Firstly when it arrived it looked like a Childs portion. Three small goujons with a handful of chips and a dip. No peas or side salad. The chips were nice, but the goujons were terrible. Greasy and very hard on the edges. Not succulent chicken. When asked if everything was ok we did mention that the goujons were not good. The lady who was serving us said she would mention it and then came back to tell us that one of them would be taken off the bill, so fair play. How ever it did spoil our lunch. We did have a pudding and all enjoyed them. Treacle tart, banana split, spotted dick and creme brulee. If we came again I wouldn't have the chicken.read moreread less
- Joanne02/06/24Amazing service and delicious food. Very accommodating to allergy requirements. Highly recommended. Very friendly and helpful staff. We will definitely be returning. Dietary restrictions: Having a reaction to saturated fats I was able to request amendments to both starter and main meal to ensure I did not have a reaction.read moreread less
- Bethany30/05/24I don't often write reviews but had to write one for this lovely pub as we couldn't find fault with anything. We visited on Saturday night for a spur of the moment meal out and have to say the food was the best we have tasted anywhere in a long time. The menu was big and varied with loads to choose from, including plenty of great vegetarian and vegan options which is a priority for me being vegetarian and there was lots of homemade and old school classics which my husband really enjoyed. The service was amazing, food came out quickly, the staff were friendly and accommodating and the atmosphere really good. It was by far the best place we have eaten out in a long time and will definitely return again soon.read moreread less
- Joanne28/05/24Family dinner whilst on holiday in Lincs What a great find. Staying locally and came here for dinner with our 2 children and it didn’t disappoint. The staff were lovely and welcoming, a great selection of drinks and the food was amazing. Proper traditional pub food and great value. It’s like stepping back to our childhood which gave the place that extra warmth. Would definitely come again.read moreread less
- DaveP7526/05/24Great Sunday Lunch Our second visit after a great meal on our 1st trip in early 2023. We booked for Sunday lunch this time and it was just as good as our last visit. I had the homemade steak and onion pie which was excellent, plenty of meat and cooked so well, the portion sizes were spot on with plenty and a variety of vegetables and cauliflower cheese…a real bonus! The food was piping hot and so was the plate which I really like. Oh and not forgetting the homemade crème brûlée which went down a treat. Overall a pub with good beer, a good atmosphere and proper home-cooked pub food. Give it a try!read moreread less
- Chris26/05/24Great meal and lovely staff Dropped in on the off chance of a Sunday lunch. The place was packed. However, the landlord was friendly and said that we could be squeezed in. Lovely meal - very tender beef, vegetables with a bite and cauliflower cheese. Other options were not the usual alternatives and the asparagus, broad bean and garlic risotto was delicious. But, the stand out aspect was the staff. Warm, personable and professional is a tricky balance, but they all had it. Such a nice atmosphere, well done all. Did I mention it was packed?read moreread less
